Album Review: Cosmic Shakedown's Self Titled Debut

Formed in early 2010, Buffalo's Cosmic Shakedown has become one the bigger emerging bands from Buffalo's bluesy stoner rock scene. Playing alongside bands like The Found, and White Bison (with members of the Found and ex-Chylde members), the Cosmic Shakedown boys have planted their feet firmly in Buffalo's local music scene. Playing a crowd pleasing blend of heavy rock, bluesy funk, and neo-psychedlia, the band has a produced a musical collage with their first EP. We were lucky enough to recieve a copy, so we gave it a spin. Some of the articulate guitar intros are reminiscent of Mastodon, but the music maintains a leel of heaviness that does not overpower the listener, and this is especially the case in the songs "Common Calypso" and "The Next F.A.D". The early tracks feature some lower, blues driven tracks, and the album amps up and progresses very well. It's a fantastic first release, and definitely merits a listen. The album is available on the band's Reverb Nation Page.
